Upward compatible with iSBC 80/20-4
The Intel® iSBC 80/24 Single Board Computer is a member of Intel’s complete line of OEM microcomputer systems which take full advantage of Intel’s LSI technology to provide economical, self-contained computer-based solutions for OEM applications. The iSBC 80/24 board is a complete computer system on a single 6.75 x 12.00-inch printed circuit card. The CPU, system clock, iSBX bus interface, readlwrite memory, read only memory sockets, 1/0 ports and drivers, serial communications interface, priority interrupt logic, and programmable timers all reside on the board. Full MULTIBUS interface logic is included to offer compatibility with the Intel OEM Microcomputer Systems family of Single Board Computers, expansion memory options, digital and analog 1/0 expansion boards, and peripheral and communications controllers.

The iSBC 80/16 Single Board Computer is a complete computer system that
is designed around the 8-bit 8080A-l MOS microprocessor, clocked at a
rate of 2.048 MHz.
The iSBC 80/16 board provides an iSBC 80/1OB board replacement for many
applications. The board contains 6 JEDEC-compatible memory chip sockets
(for installation of up to 64k bytes of user-provided memory), a serial
communications port providing an RS232C interface, two parallel I/O ports
providing 48 individual I/O lines, two iSBX Bus connectors providing
functional expansion by interfacing to all 8-bit iSBX Multfmodule boards,
and a Multibus interface supporting 8-bit data transfers. The board is
shipped with 2k bytes of Static RAM installed into one of the
JEDEC-compatible memory sockets.
The iSBC 80/16 board is compatible with the Multibus interface when the
board is operated as the only master on the interface, and requires the
use of a special Multibus interface control exchange mechanism if used
with another bus master. The board receives one interrupt signal from
the Multibus interface and is configurable for operation as a limited bus
master in a system environment. Compatibility of the iSBC 80/16 board
with the iSBC 80/1OB board includes compatibility with most of the
software designed for the iSBC 80/1OB board.
The iSBC 094 4K-Byte CMOS RAM Memory/Battery Backup Board .is a member of Intel’s complete line of iSBC memory
and I/O expansion boards. The iSBC 094 interfaces directly to iSBC single board computer via the system bus to ex
pand RAM memory capacity. The board contains 4K bytes of read/write memory, implemented using 32 Intel 5101
CMOS RAM memory components. On· board rechargeable batteries and charging circuitry insure that data contained
in RAM will be retained for at least 96 hours after system bus power (+ 5V) is removed. Critical system parameters
stored in the iSBC 094 RAM will thus be saved during temporary system power failures. Full power·fail interface logic
is provided on the board to generate a CPU interrupt when system power fails. Orderly system shutdown procedures
may then be executed and critical system parameters may be retrieved and stored. The use of CMOS RAM on the iSBC
094 also reduces power dissipation during normal system operation. The iSBC 094 contains jumpers for use in select
ing a contiguous 4K·byte address segment beginning on any 4K memory address boundary (OOOOH, 1000H, 2000H,
etc.). Read/write buffers reside on the board to buffer all data written into or read from the memory array. All address,
data, and command signals on the bus interface are TTL compatible.
The iSBX 354 module uses the Intel 82530 Serial
Communications Controller (SCC) component pro
viding two independent full duplex serial channels.
The 82530 is a multi-protocol data communications
peripheral designed to interface high speed commu
nications lines using Asynchronous, Byte-Synchro
nous and Bit-Synchronous protocols to Intel’s micro
processor based board and system level products.
The mode of operation (Le. asynchronous or syn
chronous), data format, control character format,
and baud-rate generation are all under program con
trol. The 82530 SCC component can generate and
check CRC codes in any Synchronous mode and
can be programmed to check data integrity in vari
ous modes. The command lines, serial data lines,
and signal ground lines are brought out to a double
edge connector.
The iSBX 354 module provides a low cost means to
add two serial channels to iSBC@ boards with 8 or
16 bit MUL TIMODULE interfaces. In the factory de
fault configuration, the iSBX 354 module will support
two RS232C interfaces. With user supplied drivers
and termination resistors, the iSBX 354 module can
be reconfigured to support RS422A1449 communi
cation interfaces with support on Channel A only for
multidrop control from the base board. Both chan
nels can be configured as DTE or DCE with RS232C
interfaces.
