
With the SOLOS Personality Module installed, the computer isin the command mode when power is applied to the Sol. Command modeis a sort of “home base” from which excursions may be made into otherprograms. An analysis of three levels of programs will make theconcept of command mode more understandable.

The Interface Board buffers allsignals between the display/controlboard and the ALTAIR 88OOb bus. Italso contains eight parallel datalines which transfer data to the CPUfrom the Display/Control board.

The CPU board controls and processesall instructions and data withinthe ALTAIR 88OOb computer. It-confai ns the Intel Corporation model8O8OA microprocessor circuit, themaster timing circuit, eight inputand eight output data lines to theALTAIR bus control circuits.
